About Us
It all started in 1988 when I, Robert, met my wife, Irene, and two families merged into one. The result was a household full of children: Michael, Danielle, Leanne, Rachael, and Dorothy.
My lovely wife, Irene, got me into loving scented candles. This became a blessing and a curse: a money pit. We would buy candles from every brand and different stores but quickly found that the good smelling scent only lasted about five minutes.
I’ve always worked with my hands, as a mason, working with stone and brick, so I decided to take up candle-making. I had mixed results initially, but I enjoyed doing it. As life would have it, shortly after starting this new hobby, it was shelved.
Unfortunately, we learned Rene was sick and she became very ill, requiring a lot of care. Between working and caring for my wife, I slowly restarted making candles, testing fragrance oils, waxes, and wicks, determined to start a candle making business that would allow me to spend more time at home with her.
My candles and wax melts were turning out well, with Rene’s help and input, so I started the process of starting an e-commerce candle store. Before the store was set to go live, my beloved wife, Rene passed away in October 2024.
Now, almost a year later, with a broken heart and determination to honor her and her love for candles, I offer you Rolling Hills Candle Company.
